Well said. I completely agree. I draw anime style, and even I am sick of the kawaii desu craze. Big shiny eyes do not make a drawing better.

I don't want to be a douchebag like the majority and just favorite this and run nonchalantly, so instead I'll say I AGREE!!!11111!!11!!!!!!!1111

But seriously I do and it has always baffled me how people are so oblivious of it. Although taking into mind people can better relate to more abstract, iconic figures, and often it's easier to enjoyably place yourself in the shoes of more cartoony figures (big eyes and all). (Can you guess what book I'm getting this from - my msn personal message totally doesn't give it away or anything) So that may be a cause.
Nonetheless, I say that's no excuse, and I find it hard to believe both the artist and their fans are completely unaware of the usual anatomy flaws and lack of aesthetic appeal past the eyes. ... I always have to wonder if I'm one of these people and don't notice it, too...


ALSO, IRONICALLY, I just drew a Twitch with giant kawaii eyes and it's sitting right next to me while I type this.

I don't have a problem with cute things at all but there is some truth to what you are saying

What bothers me is the talentless hacks scribbling shit and pasting big shiny anime eyes on their art to distract from the fact the rest of it is crap---and what bothers me even more than that is that it seems 90% of DA users take the bait and let themselves be distracted by huge shiny eyes. >_>
